The Silent Corner
*****
Dean
Koontz
Once
again, the Maestro has cast his web upon the universe and we are
drawn in to his amazingly imaginative world.
Dean
Koontz has always been one of my favorite authors. This book
reaffirms why I love Dean Koontz books. This is not his typical
horror/supernatural thriller, but this book definitely lives up to
his top notch standard.
The
Silent Corner introduces his new series featuring Jane Hawk, an FBI
agent. This is one bad ass chick! Her character and charisma jump
off the pages. Her character and this series (the Jane Hawk series)
is going to keep me awake nights – reading! I believe there are
going to be 3 books in this series. I am ecstatic that I already
have the 2nd book, “The
Whispering Room”, in my library!
Like
every Dean Koontz book I have ever read – I could not put it down.
This is a seasoned author who knows how to draw you in from page 1.
The book kept me on the edge of my chair, heart pounding and my mind
racing for the next page. For anyone who thought “Oh, another
FBI/Government conspiracy book, not my kind of book” … don't
forget THIS FBI book was written by Dean Koontz!
FBI
agent Jane Hawks is on leave after the death of her husband 6 months
ago. His death was ruled a suicide.
Even
though Jane can't deny that he committed this act – she KNOWS,
something is very, very wrong.
Jane
has been doing research after her husband's unusual suicide. What
she discovers is an alarming increase in the U.S. Suicide rate and
all of them are unusual. None fit the statistics. The rate doubled
in the past year, and doubled again in the past 3 months. They're
all successful, well-adjusted people with no history of depression,
emotional problems, or even financial problems. They are all either
military or professional people. What Jane has stumbled upon is
nothing less than a pandemic of corruption! She suspects some really
big people, possibly even the US government is involved, and they are
very serious about stopping Jane in her investigation.
This
book is full of kick ass action, heart pounding suspense and with the
ever present imagination of the author – hang on for the ride.
Koontz will take you where you've never been.
My
only suggestion – have book 2 “The
Whispering Room” in your
library for when you Finnish book 1!
(I
don't think book 3 has been published yet)
Thank
you to the author, the publisher, Bantam, and netgalley for allowing
me to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. My review will
be posted on amazon, goodreads, netgalley and
